Dena began her Pilates pursuits 25 years ago with Dr. Tom Welsh in the Dance Department at Florida State University. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 1996 and moved to New York City. While pursuing her professional career in dance she found herself continually using Pilates to help keep herself strong and flexible. In 1998 she completed a 600-hour apprentice program with Susan Moran-Sheehy and Phoebe Higgins. She has taught dance and Pilates to people young and old, and the results are still inspiring to her. She opened the doors to Pilates by Dena, inc., a fully equipped Pilates studio in Tampa, FL in 2002. The business has continued to grow, and she implemented a 450-hour Comprehensive Teacher Training Program in 2015. Her love of teaching others movement and Pilates continues to evolve, and she is thrilled to be teaching teachers!
